Preparation

I wasn’t under-cooked for this years DotH, I wasn’t primed either. To be honest, I didn’t have much of a clue as to where my fitness was. Getting married at the end of April meant that the early season races didn’t suit me and consistent training felt sporadic at best. I’d managed a couple of months of good, consistent running building up the distance but even during that time there were a few weeks where, for whatever reason, my motivation and effort was lacking. However, one glimmer of hope was a 50k run I’d done a few weeks prior in which I held a solid heart rate and came out the other side feeling pretty good.
