Modified “DART” for Simulation Debriefing Assessment

First described in the anaesthesia literature in the late 1980s, medical simulation has become an essential part of training in medical education at the undergraduate and graduate level, as well as in nursing and pharmacy education.

Debriefing is a core component of simulation-based learning. Reflection on the events of a completed simulation is a key step in which learners reflect and improve/enhance/modify their future planned behaviour(s). This reflection is generally guided by a debriefer, whose aim is to identify knowledge gaps and attempt to address them.

This tool aims to help us guide new debriefers (and experienced) faculty in peer-coaching to improve their future debriefings
